Pivotal Hiking Group Adventure #5
18 November 2018
For our last hike of 2018 we changed our location and walked among the trees in beautiful Sherbrooke. Our 5km loop let us take in Sherbrooke Falls (Sherbrooke trickle), and a host of towering mountain Ash trees.
We're finished up for this year, but come and join us in 2019 when we begin again at the beginning of March. Also keep an eye out for our upcoming Intermediate level events. |
Pivotal Hiking Group Adventure #4
16 September 2018
You know something is working well when you get close to 20 cancellations for an event, and still have close to 20 people arrive, ready to walk. Such was our day on Sunday. The weather forecast was looking very unkind, with early morning conditions tipping snow down to 600 meters (that was our elevation, more or less). Luckily for us everything turned out very well. Sure things were cool, but the sun was out and by the end of the hike, everyone was warm and happy they'd come along.

Pivotal Hiking Group Adventure #3
22 July 2018
What a day it was on Sunday. Sunny, and clear in the sky with just a little wind. Our turn out this time was nothing short of remarkable with 34 (not counting children) people arriving in the Dandenongs for our event.
Kicking off from the top of the hill, we wandered down hill for around 2.5 kms and then climbed back up to where we started from, taking in our amazing surrounds all the while. our only hiccups this time round were a number of fallen trees. due to the recent high winds quite a few had fallen over the path. But thankfully we were able to overcome those obstacles with a bit of lifting, a bit of shifting and a bit of sweat. |
Pivotal Hiking Group Adventure #2
20 May 2018
We had another great turn out for our second Pivotal Hiking Group Event, especially considering the weather this time round was not what you might call "nice."
Once again we kicked off at the Woolrich Lookout at the RJ Hamer Arboretum in Olinda, but this time chose a different track. We travelled approximately 5.3km across varied terrain (including plenty of mud) and enjoyed the beautiful scenery which was so different from our last visit to the area. We finished up the day with a coffee and some lunch at the King Henry Cafe just outside Sassafras. We're looking forward to the next Hiking Group Event and we'd love to see you there too! MOVNAT Level 2 Certification
April 23 and 24 saw Andrew at the Level 2 MOVNAT certification course, having completed level 12 moths prior. The MOVNAT courses are notoriously grueling and level 2 was no exception. Day one was a full day of movement, running through the advanced techniques that participants are required to demonstrate to pass.
Day 2 was testing day. First up the written test. A multiple choice one which didn't provide much hassle for anyone in the group. After the written we went over the requirements for the Physical competence. MOVNAT are quite strict on their physical competence component, and with these more advanced techniques it was a tiring and demanding process. Low position balancing, climbing, crawling, vaulting, lifting, running and jumping we went through the entire gamut. The testing finished up with the prospective trainers showing their coaching competence. There was only one certificate issued on the day, and we're pleased to say it was issued to Andrew, with the other participants still able to pass after re sitting certain components. |
